Last Monday we had another appointment with the specialist. They did another detailed ultrasound to check the development and size of the babies. It was hard for them to get any good pictures because the babies were moving so much!
Overall, we were very happy and relieved when we left our appointment. The babies weighed 1lb 5 oz, 1lb 4oz, and 1lb 3oz (right where they all should be, and very close in weight!) The girls are looking very healthy but there is one issue with our boy that they are following. His left kidney is enlarged and it could go away but it also could be a cystic kidney. If it is a cystic kidney then the worse case scenario is that he will have only one functioning kidney. Luckily, you only really need one kidney. The doctor reassured us that if there were to be any issues for baby to have then this is the one she would pick. We are praying that it goes away.
The past week I've tried to take it very easy. Even though I am only at what the doctor calls a level 1 in cutting back on my activities it feels like I've cut back extensively. I'm doing a tiny bit of housework, but mostly resting (in fact I have to lay down for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon). Mike was off work for the week and that was wonderful. He got so much accomplished: moved our furniture and set up our new bedroom, hung a flat screen tv in our new room, painted the nursery (the biggest room in our house), assembled a crib, changing table, and glider, and did all the other stuff that I can't do : ) I'm going to miss him when he goes back to work tomorrow.
Saturday night was fun because we got to go to a wedding for Mike's co-worker Marco. It did feel good to have a reason to get dressed up. Most of the time I have no reason to even put on make-up anymore. We were only able to stay until about 9:30 because I started to feel pressure from sitting for so long. The joy of having a baby sitting low with two others on top of it! We weren't there long enough to get a piece of cake and I was bummed about that. When you are pregnant and think you are going to get cake then you can't stop thinking about it. On the way home Mike took me to Raleys and I went straight to the bakery department and got this huge strawberry cake slice. This is the first pregnant craving that we actually went and got. I looked hilarious waddling through the empty store at 10 pm with my huge cake slice. It was worth it though!
